Some of Our Favorite Local Spots
AeroCountry Airport 972-346-8109
Custer & Virginia
This private airport is the perfect place to go to on a pretty day to watch the small planes take off. We love taking our son here to enjoy an hour or so. Bring snacks if you plan on staying a while...this is just a hole in the wall that always ends up being fun.
The Donut Kitchen 214-592-0088
7250 Virginia Parkway, Suite 140 McKinney, Texas 75071
WOW - this place sells gourmet donuts and incredible lunches. Their salads have replaced my old favorite from Houston's. Be sure to give them a try. You will be very pleased :).
Rick's Chophouse 214-726-9251
107 N Kentucky Street McKinney, TX 75069
Rick's is a great spot in downtown McKinney for a nice dinner. We even know some people that drive up from Dallas just to eat here. They also have an amazing Sunday brunch that is a real treat and can accomodate large parties.
Spoons Cafe 972-548-6900
100 E Lousiana McKinney, TX 75069
Spoons is a great venue for breakfast and sweet treats. They make a great chicken and waffle. There is also a "back garage" entrance that is fun to use (it makes you feel like you are part of the "know" :).
Stonebridge Ranch Country Club 972-529-5991
Stonebridge has consistently been voted as one of the top golf courses in Texas (especially for value). It also has amazing food. Chef Jamie Sanford is from the Mansion on Turtle Creek and he has cooked for presidents, Julie Child and with Stephan Pyles and Dean Fearing. His creations continue to amaze us. We love to eat, golf, and play tennis, so Stonebridge was a perfect fit for us. They have reasonable membership options (especially if you are under 40). Amy is on the membership committee, so please let us know if you are interested in the club, and we can help get you more information!
Tai Sushi House 972-369-0022
8408 Stacy Road, Suite 100 McKinney, TX 75070
We were so excited to find great sushi in McKinney. This place is extremely small, but to help with their growing demand they offer free delivery to most of the area. It is also BYOB there, so you can have a pretty inexpensive sushi meal. You need to call ahead on weekends.
Towne Lake Recreation Area
1405 Wilson Creek Parkway McKinney, TX 75069
This is a great park for the entire family. You can paddle boat, feed the ducks, enjoy a picnic and take a 1.2 mile walking/biking trail around the lake. There is a small concession stand that sells corn for the ducks and drinks/snacks. There is no charge to enter.
Wild Brush Studio 214-449-3511 www.wildbrushstudio.com
110 W Virginia St, Suite 200 McKinney, TX 75069
Wild Brush Studio is in downtown McKinney. The local art teachers put on the art classes and help guide you through the process. Everyone is super friendly, and you are guaranteed to have a great time. Amy and Cory's mom are pictured to the left with their masterpieces :).
